Question by Evan Palmer: GOLF SWING TIPS : swing practice?
I now feel that with a 9 iron I swing pretty well, and I feel that I am doing things correctly. How much will differ when I use my woods ? Should I strive to get the exact same mechanics as I have for my 9 iron ?

As you may know, there are many clubs in Golf bag, woods (3) and long irons (3,4) and middle iron (5,6,7) and short iron (8, 9, wedges) and putter.
Your question is most important and fundamental question that most of golfers need to have a comfortable understanding of it. Thanks for addressing this question.
One thing you need to know is that the ball position will be different depending on which club you are hitting with.
If you are putting ball in the middle of your stance for 9 iron, I am quite sure your handle will be ahead of ball and you will be hitting the ball with down-blow. Because of this the angle of club head will be de-lofted.
On the other hand, as you move club to longer such as wood, the ball position will be moving from center to left (assuming you are right hand), so that ball striking will be more like sweeping swing rather than down-blow swing.
This change of swing will requires a different mechanics. However, you will want to maintain the same grip and tempo for ball striking.
