whats the proper way to swing a golf club?

Question by vikingsfanin04: whats the proper way to swing a golf club?

Best answer:

Answer by Josh T
That is a very tough question to answer on paper. You should always keep your eye on the ball, and swing through the ball. I would encourage you to get someone to show you as it is very hard to explain without showing you.

Golfing tips for Driving Range- Beginner. Tips to impress a golfing pro!?

golfing tips
by argusfoto

Question by Younas: Golfing tips for Driving Range- Beginner. Tips to impress a golfing pro!?
Hey guys. im 17 years old and im pretty athletic, I thought golf was a pretty easy sport before. But now, wow…It’s harder then I thought. I went to a driving range and I managed to hit a good 4-5 balls/swings out of 50+? lol…I actually like the sport.

My sister’s boyfriend is a golfing pro from south Africa and he hits, really good. I was golfing with him and i was trying to impress him. Anyone know any tips?

Best answer:

Answer by JD
You won’t impress him with your game. I’m not saying that to be funny at all and this is something I’ve told myself and a friend when we played in a Pro Am one time.

I said to myself to not be nervous because there is nothing I can do to impress the pro I was playing with, absolutely nothing. No matter how well I played, unless I made a few holes in one there was nothing I could do that he’s never seen on a daily basis, and done himself. And conversely, I’m a good enough player that no matter how bad I played I wouldn’t be worse than some pro am partners he’s had, so just relax and play my game.

Here is how you CAN impress him. Dress nicely, shirt tucked in. Know your etiquette and follow it. Play at a comfortable pace. Play by the rules. You will get a LOT more respect from a real golfer by shooting 115 and following the rules and putting everything out than you would by raking putts and taking liberty with the rules and posting a “lower” score. Tend the flag, fix ballmarks that aren’t yours, and be a good partner who knows when to talk and when to be quiet. Do those things and he’ll be impressed.

What should the wrist hinge feel like in the golf swing?

golf swing help
by psd

Question by Chris M: What should the wrist hinge feel like in the golf swing?
I just began golfing and find that many of the instructional aids don’t discuss what the hands should be doing during the golf swing. My question is should I hinge my wrist towards my forearm or should they hinge towards the sky? Thanks for any help.

Best answer:

Answer by A.REKKIN
One drill I learned was to address the ball normally, take the club straight back until the club is pointing straight backward and is parallel to the ground. Next, raise the club to a vertical position by bending your wrists. This will give you the feeling, strength and flexibility in your wrists. I’d say your wrists should bend towards your forearms so you don’t open or close the club face too much. However, when your wrists start to bend in your backswing they do probably bend towards the sky also.

The real kicker to wrist hinge is being able to hold onto it as long as possible on the downswing and still maintain your timing. If you can do that, you’re doing great. You’ll probably experience more power and crisper ball striking.

I have trouble doing that.

Tips for a left-hander golfing right handed? (Plus any golfing tips/info for a newbie would be appreciated)?

Question by mar00n: Tips for a left-hander golfing right handed? (Plus any golfing tips/info for a newbie would be appreciated)?
Tomorrow at noon i have a golfing lesson that my grandpa is taking me to. The only problem is that they have no left handed drivers and i swing left handed. I’m taking the lesson anyway but, obviously, i’ll have to swing right handed. Anyway, does anybody have any tips for me? Or really just any golfing tips or info at all so i don’t look like a complete moron tomorrow?

By the way, I’m not experienced golfing left handed at all whatsoever either, just some putting, and i only know i’m left handed because i’m a big baseball player and from the little putting (and mini golf back home haha).

P.S. I’m pretty ambidextrious which i’m hoping will help a little. I write and throw right handed as my right hand is my dominant hand.

Thank you!

Answer by SmartA$ $
In baseball, are you a switch hitter?

If you bat left handed in baseball, you should swing left handed in Golf. If you can switch hit in baseball, then you can probably learn to golf either way.

If you write & throw right handed, then it sounds like you are right handed and should be swinging right handed anyway. You can always putt the other way if it feels more comfortable.

One more tip: if you do learn to golf and find that you can swing either way, it might be a good idea to carry one club that is set for the opposite side. So if you learn to play left handed, carry one right handed club anyway. This way if/when you get in a situation where you’re near an obstruction and can’t take a left handed swing, you can use the right handed club and stand on the other side.

Tips to keep head still when golfing?

Question by Eli4Prez: Tips to keep head still when golfing?
When using my woods and driver, I tend to love my head with my follow through swing giving which is giving me a problem with my shot, obviously. I try to focus on the back 1/8th of the ball, any ideas to kead the head still? I know it seems kind of a stupid question, but just any small tips would be nice.

Best answer:

Answer by Jack M
Focus on the ball and do not move your head until after your follow through swing.

golf swing proper turn?

proper golf swing
by Steve Cox Illustration

Question by Brown man: golf swing proper turn?
i have been experiencing some problems with my golf swing…..i believe that it is a result to a misturn in my hips..i think i dont turn them enough becuase i thought that a minimum hip turn with good upper body turn would maximize power. i realized i was mistaken so i tried to fix it but now i think i over turn to the point where it can be considered almost a reverse pivot.

how much turn is right…if you could describe it…

thank you

Best answer:

Answer by Swingin’ My Life Away!
The hips play a very important role in the golf swing. The problem is that most people do not understand the correct motion that they must make. The correct move is NOT a simple turn of the hips from the top of the swing, as many would believe.

In fact, the correct move is a slight lateral shift, or “bump”, and then a turn. If you look at players like Tiger Woods and Nick Faldo, you will see a perfect example of this. These guys don’t just turn their hips away from the top. Instead, their weight shifts laterally to the left side, which drops everything (arms and shoulders) into the slot. From there, they can just turn and fire through the ball as hard as they want.

Most over the top slicers do just the opposite of what Tiger and Nick do. They turn, instead of shifting, then turning. When they turn, their right arm and shoulder throw over the top of the plane.

Here is a checklist for you to develop the correct hip movement:

1.) From the top, feel that you “bump” your hips laterally and slightly out to the right (out to right field). This will drop your arms into the inside slot, from where you can attack the ball.

2.) Once you achieve that nice inside position, you are home free! It’s now just a matter of turning your hips and firing through the ball aggressively.

Keep in mind not to shift your upper body along with your hips. It’s simply a lower body shift. Hope this helps you some. I know it sure did help me. Good luck. Happy Holidays.

Welcome to the great game of Golf.

Your going to get many different answer to this question…

Each answer will be based on a certain criteria…

Here is mine…

Since you are finding your swing as you enter this game, distance is should not be the priority #1…This will come later…give your swing time to develop.

In the mean time…find a comfortable swing that is easy on your body…what I mean is that there is a dance you do with your club…it has a nice, easy, relaxed, effortless s w i n g…….If you have a death grip on your club as you swing…your using too much effort…you should hold your club a comfortable as if your meeting a female and shaking her hand for the first time…

Do not be surprised if your 3, 5 or even 7 wood goes farther than your driver…if this is the case, then stay with it for now…it is better to be in the air 150yds and in the middle of the fairway, than 200yds with a driver in the rough, playing “find Waldo”.

The greatest lesson I learned, was from a 65yr old female golfer…she wasnt long…but, she kept the ball in play and got to the green, and played within her distance that her game would allow…she wasnt going for Birdies or Pars…she was enjoying the game for what it was…her enjoyment.

I envy you…I really do…your new founded journey into this game is a great adventure…enjoy the moment as you find more about yourself, than the game.

There is no better excitement than to gear yourself up, for the battle against a course…and test your own faults, and overcome them on the field, or at the least, be humbled and understand that no matter how good we think we are…there will be days that tells us otherwise.

Looks pretty good, need to coil up more in the back swing, but hard to tell without seeing the ball flight.Next time wear something other than a wife beater to the golf course.
