  1. This is a sturdy umbrella, and since it’s huge, it’ll do the job of keeping you and maybe a couple friends dry. The only complaint (which isn’t one at all) is that since the umbrella is so sturdy you’ll be fighting to hold it up during heavier winds… (which is better than what would usually happen with a cheaper umbrella).

  2. The best thing this umbrella has going for it is the price. Its by far the cheapest umbrella of its size that I found. The biggest problem with it is the handle. The handle is made of some sort of rubber which emits a horrible smell. I’ve had other products like that, and the smell does go away eventually, but it takes a little while. The worst thing here is the smell being on the handle. This means it can transfer to your hand.

I guess the basic thing here is, if you want a cheap umbrella and cheap is the most important thing, then this umbrella is for you. If you want one that doesn’t reek or has all sorts of testing to say it can handle high winds you’re probably going to have to go elsewhere.

  3. OK Big umbrella. Cheap. YES the handle smells very bad, so remove it. I cut mine off immediately and sanded the glue off. [ I think the GLUE is what stinks.] This cut the stench down to about 90%. Is still a bit smelly but I can handle it and think it will go away in time.

I think I am going to hot glue a chunk of bamboo on for the new handle or maybe use a old mountain bike grip after expanding the skinny fiber glass handle with duck tape or the like.

  4. DEFINITELY worth the money. This is a great umbrella, especially for the money. However I must agree with the other reviews, the handle does have a chemical smell. It does get better with time though. I’d buy it again.

  5. The handle gives off a very strong chemical smell. Stunk up my house and now my office.

I will be returning it. Too bad- it looks like a very good umbrella at a good price.
