I’ve now had four golf lessons from the club pro. and my game is 6 shots worse since he changed my swing-why?

Question by tell’emaboutdahoney: I’ve now had four golf lessons from the club pro. and my game is 6 shots worse since he changed my swing-why?
Should I persevere with what he’s teaching me and pay for some more lessons- or should I go back to the way I was swinging the club before-as I was playing much better?

  1. Most likely because The new style doesn’t feel natural to your body yet. So as your swing style is changing you constantly try to compensate for the changes. The result is that your form isn’t quite right and thus your not getting the power and control you should be getting.

Eventually your body will forget your old swing style and the new one your learning will become more natural and second nature. Assuming that the new on is in fact a better one your overall game will improve as you gain more control.

  2. Well lets look at this way… How could getting a lesson from a pro make you worse? Its because you still think in your mind that your way is right… Listen we all do that. What you have to do is erase all your self learning and go with the pro…. Most of all… practice, practice…. practice… Grant in Pennsylvania

  3. You need to get used to ur new swing. Hit the range a bunch and don’t get frustrated.

  4. when i first started to play i got lessons and i did the same thinig, i didnt hit it well and it didnt feel as good so i ignored the lessons, but now years later i am a much better golfer and i do the things he told me to do. so stick with what the pro taught you
