Stay inside the ball,

keep your head down,

use your legs… turn hips, otherwise the ball will go left,

dont lift the club in your backswing… just pull it back.

  1. There are many different grips out there that you can use.The Interlocking Grip – With this grip the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand combine and interlock. It is commonly used by those that have thick hands, or shorter hands. The Overlapping Grip – This grip involves having the little finger of the right hand sit on top of the index finger of the left hand. The Baseball Grip – With this grip the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand do not overlap but do make contact with each other

  2. Most importantly, KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN THROUGH THE SWING! as simple as it may sound, head movement can cause a lot of swing problems. A good way to make a swing is to break it down into simple steps.

    The first part of a sound swing is to have the correct grip. Assuming you are right handed, you should grasp the top of the grip with your left hand, with your four fingers wrapping around the club. Your thumb should rest centered pointing straight down the club. Your right hand should mimic the position of the left hand, but your pinkie finger should overlap your index finger of your left hand, and your thumb should be tucked to the left.

    Another fundamental is your stance. Your feet should be about shoulder width apart and your weight should be balanced on the balls of your feet. Your knees should be slightly bent and your butt should be slightly propped out(try to feel as if you are sitting on a stool). Your feet, shoulders, and club face should all be aligned down the target line.

    The correct way to start the swing is to turn your shoulders without cocking your wrists or bending your arms(the toe of the club should be pointing straight up and should be outside of your body). Once in this position, you should then cock your wrists, then add in another shoulder turn. if done correctly, the club face should be square at the top of the swing and the shaft parallel to the ground.

    It is important in the down swing to make sure that you swing to the inside of the swing plane. A good way to practice this is by putting an empty coke bottle about one foot behind your golf ball. If you cut across the ball to the outside, you will hit the bottle. Practice this drill untill you can strike the ball without hitting the bottle(it is best to start with a slow swing)

    In the finishing position of the golf swing, most of your weight should be on the left side of your body and your belly button should be facing your target.

    Once again, i would like to emphasize the importance of keeping the head steady through the golf swing. If your head drops back in the swing, you will cut across the ball resulting a slice.

    If all else fails, go to an instructor. It worked for me;)
