Well, I watched your swing.

I will first start off by saying this. The 3 iron is the hardest club in the bag to hit besides a 2 or 1 iron. It takes a precise strike with a great amount of clubhead speed to make the club worthwhile. This is because of the light weight and low loft of the club. This is why utility woods and hybrids have become so popular.

Secondly, your swing has quite a few issues, but to put it shortly your swing doesn’t have a powerful nor precise movement. I would recommend staying away from your long irons until your overall swing improves.

My official recommendation is to get lessons from your local PGA Professional. The money is more than worth it and you will see dramatic changes and before too long be hitting a 3 iron just fine.

  1. I think there are a lot of things wrong with your 3 iron golf swing. Try fixing it.

  2. I have been playing golf for over 12 years now and I have always hit my 3 iron well. First of all looking at your setup, rather than put the club toward your back foot put it a golf ball width right of your left foot. This is what I do and I have always had success and it is what a lot of accomplished goflers do to hit their long irons well. Finally, on your backswing, don’t sway. On your backswing you do want to have more weight on your back foot but you don’t want to sway. So the best advice I could give you is to move the clubhead a ball width right of your front foot (left foot) and stop swaying. This should help. Your downswing and followthrough looks good.

  3. move closer
head down until you make contact

  4. 1 reverse pivot
2 too far back of centre at address
3 dont make a proper turn on the backswing
4 make sure your head stays level, dont listen to people who say to keep your head down or still
5 try and keep your weight from shifting outside your feet
6 you hit from the top, your body should fire from the bottom up

i think the best advice would be to get to the local pro for a few lessons as suggested by others. enjoy your golf

  5. i would go get a 3 iron hybrid. they are way easier to hit than the actual iron.

  6. Switch to a hybrid and lower your score.
